In the north of County Clare are the rugged sheer drops of up to 700 feet continuing along 8km of Atlantic Coast - The Cliffs of Moher. There are many coastal walks for you to take in the breathtaking views. Ten miles east, you'll find an amazing Karst limestone region called the Burren, which have caves, underground streams and rare alpine flowers. The area also has plenty of fascinating archaeological sites, including the 5000-year-old Poulnabrone Dolmen. Plus it's also got scuba diving at Kilkee and Doolin; surfing at Lahinch and the fabulously kitsch Bunratty Castle (mind the boiling oil in the murder holes!).
